Skillable Performance Based Testing Integration in Certiverse

Overview

The integration enables Skillable as a Performance-Based Testing (PBT) provider within Certiverse Exams. It introduces on-demand provisioning and scoring capabilities for hands-on lab exams, as well as combined Certiverse Multiple Choice and PBT test parts in a single exam.

Scoring Information

Certiverse exams with a Skillable hands-on lab can be configured to return a raw score and maximum raw score for the PBT test part. The PBT raw score and maximum raw score can be used to determine a score for the test part; using raw or percent; and can be configured to determine a pass/fail for the test part. The PBT raw score and maximum raw score will also be combined with other test part raw scores to calculate overall scores for the exam, including raw, percent, and scaled scores. The combined overall score can then be used to determine the overall pass/fail. Another option is to use the Test Part Scoring, which requires each test part to be configured with a pass/fail, and for every test part to have a pass grade in order for the overall grade to be a pass.

Skillable Configuration in Certiverse

Skillable & Certiverse Required Steps

Prior to configuring your Skillable labs in Certiverse, please ensure you have done the following two steps:

  1. Retrieve your API key once your Organization has established the PBT lab profile(s). This should come directly from Skillable.

  2. Request a custom Form Template by Certiverse that contains two test parts if your exam contains both MCQ and PBT labs. *If your exam is only lab based and will not contain any MCQ, you may disregard this step.

Once both steps have been completed, you may proceed with the configuration steps listed below.

Accessing the PBT Configuration
  1. Log in to Certiverse
  2. Navigate to the Admin Portal
  3. Select the Connectors tab
  4. In the left menu, choose Performance Based Testing
  5. Click Connect on the Performance Based Testing card
  6. Click Add Connector (top-right)
Connector Setup
  • Connector Type: Select Performance Based Testing from the dropdown menu
  • Provider: Select Skillable
  • Connector Name: Provide a display name for the connector 
  • Input API Key provided by Skillable
  • Click Validate to ensure the connection is valid
  • Click Create
Exam Management Configuration

Exam Level Configuration

  1. Navigate the the Exam Management tab
  2. Click EDIT for the desired existing exam 
    1. If creating a new exam in Exam Management please visit How To Create an Exam In Exam Management
  3. Click Performance Based Test checkbox 
  4. Select Skillable from list of Performance Based Test Provider
  5. Select Organization Connector
  6. Toggle on the Score Returned to Certiverse option.
    1. This ensure the lab score is returned to Certiverse while also combined with the MCQ score of the exam.

Form Level Configuration

  1. Name your Form
  2. Select the two part Form Template designed by Certiverse for two part exams.
    1. If your exam is only lab based and will not contain any MCQ, you may disregard this step.
  3. Click Add
  4. Locate and click the Delivery tab in the Form
  5. Click on Test Part header
  6. Toggle on Use As Performance Based Test in the right hand configuration panel that appears.
  7. Select Lab Profile Id from the dropdown menu
  8. Click Update

TIP: Test Part Scoring 

To require the user pass each test part; and not use a combined score to determine pass/fail; the overall Pass/Fail Type should be set to Test Part Scoring and the Pass/Fail Type for each test part should be set to either Raw or Percent with the appropriate Passing Score for the test part entered.


IMPORTANT!

Any Test Part that will be used for Performance Based Test should not contain any sections or MCQ items.

TIP: Displaying PBT Score in Score Reports

To display the scores to candidate on the Score Report as an End Screen and/or as an Emailed Score Report should use the PBT Sub Section Percent Score - Integer token.
