Pre-requisites to Copy Items
- Copy Limitations:
- You can only copy items that have already been Accepted.
- Copy to one Blueprint at a time.
- You can copy an item onto the Blueprint it currently resides on.
Step-by-Step Guide to Copy an Item
Step 1: Select Item to Copy
- Go to the Item Management Portal.
- Click Accepted Items
- Find and click on the item you want to copy. This will open the item’s Item Panel to the right
Step 2: Open the Copy Item Option
- In the Item Panel, locate the Copy Item button, which appears next to the expand icon.
Step 3: Pop-Up Box Appears
- After clicking the Copy Item button, a pop-out box will appear for further actions.
Step 4: Choose a Blueprint
- The system will prompt you to select a Blueprint from the available options.
- Blueprint from the same Organization: You can only copy to a Blueprint within the same organization.
- Published Blueprint: The Blueprint must already be published to proceed.
- User Access: Ensure that you have access to the Blueprint where the item is being copied.
- Blueprint from the same Organization: You can only copy to a Blueprint within the same organization.
Step 5: Confirmation Message
- After selecting a Blueprint, the system will display a message:
- "Copying Item to another Blueprint does not transfer data or history of the parent item. Do you wish to proceed?"
- This is an important reminder that the copy will not carry over the data or history of the original item.

Item Data and History not transfered
When copying an item, the following information will not be transferred to the new Blueprint:
- Item Name
- Cognitive Level
- Lifecycle
- Item Quality
- Status
- Created/Edited Dates
- Author Information: The copying user is defaulted as the author, but this can be changed later by an Admin.
- Exam/Form
- Reviewers
- Topic Display ID (Item topic is set to Unassigned)
- Item Tags, Enemies, Notes
- Item History
- Benchmark Statistics
- Percent Answer Correct
- Source (Import)
- Compensation Model
- Job Role
- Blueprint
Additional Considerations
- The Item ID of the copied item will follow the standard naming conventions, incorporating the copy-to Blueprint prefix and a padded item ID.
Copying an item is a simple process that helps in content management, but it's important to remember that the item’s data and history will not be transferred to the new Blueprint.
