This report is essential for psychometric analysis, helping to identify items that may need revisions and understanding how candidates interact with each item. Below is a breakdown of the fields in the Item Analysis Report and instructions for filtering and interpreting the data.
Item Analysis Report Fields
When generating an Item Analysis Report, the following details are displayed for each exam item:
- ItemName: Name or identifier of the exam item.
- IsScored: Indicates whether the item contributes to the candidate’s score.
- DomainId / Domain: Identifier and name of the domain or subject area the item belongs to.
- ItemType: Type of item (e.g., multiple-choice, essay).
- Key: Correct answer or solution key for the item.
- SampleSize: Number of candidates who responded to the item.
- ProportionCorrect: Proportion of candidates who answered the item correctly, indicating item difficulty.
- StandardDeviation: Variation in responses, showing the distribution of correct vs. incorrect answers.
- CorrectedItemTotalCorrelation (CITC): Measures how well the item correlates with the overall test score, indicating item quality.
- COTC_1 to COTC_5: Corrected item-total correlation values for specific groups or intervals, if applicable.
- Prop_1 to Prop_5: Proportion of correct responses for each corresponding group (1–5), indicating item performance across different cohorts.
- COTC_Missing / Prop_Missing: Correlation and proportion values for cases where data was missing, helping identify incomplete data or outliers.
Filtering the Report: Excluding Invalid Exam Results
For more accurate analysis, the Item Analysis Report allows you to exclude certain types of invalid results:
- Incomplete Data: Excludes candidates with incomplete responses, enhancing data integrity.
- Quick Responders: Excludes candidates who responded too quickly, indicating possible lack of engagement.
- Chance Responders: Excludes candidates whose responses may indicate random guessing.
