Administrator's Guide: Configuring an Authoring Exam
Exam Creation and Configuration
- Blueprint Review and Finalization:
- Ensure the exam blueprint is comprehensive, accurate, and aligned with learning objectives.
- Creating a New Exam:
- Access the exam management portal.
- Click "Add Exam."

Required* and Optional Fields:
- Select Blueprint*: Choose the relevant blueprint for the exam.
- Exam Name*: Provide a clear and descriptive name for the exam. The Exam Name is displayed internally only.
- Exam Title*: Enter the official title of the exam. The Exam Title is displayed to candidates during the exam.
- Exam Type*: Select "LIVE" or "BETA" based on the exam's status.
- Exam Code*: Assign a unique code for the exam.
- Default Exam Form Maximum Time*: Set the default maximum time in minutes for forms created under this exam instance.
- Reference Materials: Link to any relevant support materials for candidates.
- SME Compensation: Establish a revenue share for subject matter experts (SMEs) involved in the exam.
- Badging: Select a badging provider and enter the necessary credentials for the exam.
- Translated Languages: If you wish for this exam to be delivered in various languages, be sure to configure them by checking on the available languages.
- Performance Basted Test – A Truability integration allowing you to provide your candidate with performance-based test parts during their exam.
- Send Results: Configure the Result Type to push exam results to another endpoint. Begin by selecting Standard from the Result Type dropdown box, choose from All Exam Deliveries or Certiverse Exam Store. Next, you’ll need to provide the Endpoint URL, User ID, and Password. Setting Up Forms
Beta Forms:
- Navigate to the "Forms" tab.
- Click "Add Form."
- Select a BETA template type.
- Test Part -
- Sections -
- Ensure accurate form configurations to optimize candidate experience and item arrangement.

Operational (Live) Forms:
- Navigate to the "Forms" tab.
- Click "Add Form."
- Select a LIVE template type.
- Test Part -
- Sections -
- Ensure accurate form configurations.
- Enable item translations for approved and translated items.

Adding Items
- Item Selection:
- Locate the "Delivery" tab.
- Add Test Parts and Sections, rename them if desired.
- Click on the section header where you want to add items.
- Choose from the following options:
- Form Score Configuration: Configure scoring settings for the form.
- Scoring Type: Select the scoring method (e.g., raw, percent score, two-part scoring).
- Scaled Scoring Table: Add a scaled scoring table if applicable.
- Form Import Option: Import items from an external source (provide a guide for setting up the form with correct item types).
- Manual Item Selection: Manually choose items from the item bank.
- Automated Item Selection: Use automated algorithms to select items based on specified criteria.
- Item Placement:
- Drag and drop items to their desired positions within the form sections.
Setting Up Exam Screens
- Screen Creation:
- Navigate to the "Exams Screens and Score Reports" tab.
- Create screens for welcome messages, agreements/NDAs, and end-of-exam messages.
- Use rich text editor and tokens for customization.
- Score Reports:
- Configure score reports to display relevant information to candidates.
- Set the retention period for score reports.
- Define pass and fail outcomes based on the configured cut score.
Additional Considerations
- Author Credits:
- Recognize SMEs who contributed to exam development by adding an author credits screen.
- Agreement Screens:
- Customize decline and accept text for agreements.
- Add translated agreements for candidates.
- Synchronized Screens:
- Reuse screens across multiple exams by using generic language and tokens.
- Preview and Activation:
- Preview the exam to ensure proper configuration.
- Approve the form before activating it.
- Archive forms as needed.
