Blueprint Topic Authoring Guide
A valid blueprint is one endorsed by subject-matter experts as an effective way to structure content. It should also assign appropriate weights to both overarching (root) and specific (leaf) topics.
Getting Started
Once you've created your Blueprint from either a JTA made in Certiverse or by choosing Import Manual, where to import your topics, you'll need to ensure you've configured your Blueprint in the Admin Portal.

- Navigate to the Authoring Portal
- Locate and click on the Blueprint tab
- Locate your desired Blueprint and click VIEW/CONTRIBUTE
How do I make edits to my Blueprint before Publishing?
- If you are working with a Blueprint that was imported or generated from a Certiverse JTA, you can:
- Add, View and Edit Topic Names
- Add, View and Edit Topic Weights
- Add, View and Edit Topic Descriptions
- Add Leaf Topics by clicking the + icon next to the Trash icon
- Drag and Drop Topics [see here for a step-by-step video tutorial].
- This feature allows for a seamless change of topic order and moving leaf topics to root topics or vice versa.

- View JTA Tasks associated with the topic if made from a Certiverse JTA.
- Add/View Comments from fellow Blueprint Authors and Blueprint Reviewers.
- Toggle Topic Description OFF for a simpler Blueprint View
- Delete Topics
- These topics can viewed and Restored by toggling the Show Deleted Topics ON
- Assign Cognitive Levels to Topics [See here for a step-by-step video tutorial].
- If working with Leaf Topics also referred to as Sub-Topics, it is recommended you assign the cognitive level to the Leaf Topics, not the Root Topics.
- Enable a field for Item Writers to add Scenarios [See here for a step-by-step video tutorial].
- Can be set to None, Optional, or Required.
- View Total Items per Form at the Topic level
- View Total Total Items needed per topic
- View Job Role
- Add Blueprint Topic Authors & Reviewers by clicking the Contributor Icon [See here]
- Merge Topics using the Tag Icon [See here for a step-by-step video tutorial].
- Export the Blueprint into CSV format. [See here for a step-by-step video tutorial].
- If needed you can Normalize the percentage of the topics. [See here for a step-by-step video tutorial].
Blueprint Changes After Publishing

- Organizations can now make changes to Published Blueprints as needed.
- A Draft Blueprint toggle needs to be enabled if changes are to be made to a Published Blueprint. [See here for a step-by-step video tutorial].
- This can be achieved by clicking the Version dropdown and select Draft from the dropdown list.
- Once the Organization Admin approves of these changes, they can publish that draft and changes will be reflected once the new draft is published.
- It is important to keep in mind, any deletion of Topics with previously written items will be will be moved to Unassigned (NoTopic) and must be assigned to a new topic in the Item Management Portal.
